Combination Skin: How To Manage It

Do you have oily parts in your face especially in the forehead, nose, and chin while the other parts are dry to normal? If you experience this, then you have a combination skin type.

Managing a combination skin can be a little tricky since you are dealing with two or more skin types.

Here are some tips that would help manage your combination skin:

Combination Skin: How To Manage It1. Cleanse

Use a gentle facial cleanser to strip away the everyday dirt. Avoid using bar soap or other strong facial cleansers to prevent skin irritation and dryness. It’s a good practice to wash your face everyday but make sure that you don’t overdo it as washing your face more than twice a day can strip away the natural oil your skin produce.

2. Tone

Apply a toner after washing your face. Skin toners are additional cleansers that can help remove excess oil and dirt. It also helps maintain the pH balance of your skin. Be sure that the skin toner you use doesn’t contain alcohol as it can easily dry out your skin and might irritate your skin as well. Choose toners that contain antioxidants which can help nourish and repair your skin.

3. Moisturise

It’s always important to moisturise your skin especially on the dry area of your face. Since a combination skin have an oily and dry part, you might use two kinds of moisturiser for your face. Use a rich and creamy moisturiser for the dry section and use the light or gel like moisturiser on the oily part. We don’t want to use the rich moisturiser on the oily part of the skin as it might produce excess oil.

4. Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin can help remove dead skin cells as well as help unclog pores and remove dirt. It can help eliminate acne causing bacteria and also help balance the oil production of your skin. Only exfoliate twice a week so that your skin will be fresh looking and not irritated and red.

These are just simple tips that you can do to manage your combination skin. It just needs time to get used to it and make it a healthy skin care routine.
