Causes of Unhealthy Skin

Do you have Unhealthy Skin and how can you help change this?

Our skin is the largest body organ that we have. It plays an important role in our well-being. It protects us from harmful microorganisms as well as regulates our body temperature. Having a healthy skin can sometimes be difficult to achieve and maintain as there are a lot of factors that can cause unhealthy skin.

Here are the most common causes of unhealthy skin:

  1. Causes of Unhealthy SkinDiet
Eating healthy foods can really have a great impact on your skin. Healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts and fish have a lot of health benefits that includes a well-nourished and moisturised skin. Foods that are high in sodium, trans-fats and sugar can lead to various illnesses and will definitely reflect on your skin. Avoiding unhealthy foods is a great way to help your skin and body to be healthy.
  2. Water Consumption
A major cause of unhealthy skin is dehydration. Drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water a day will not only help your body hydrated but will also help your skin nourished and moisturised.
  3. Sun Exposure and Environment
Pollution has great effects on our skin as well as our body. It causes clogged pores and breakouts. Regularly cleansing your skin can help reduce skin problems.
The right amount of sun exposure is beneficial to our health. However, over exposure to the sun without proper protection can lead to damaged skin (skin burn, fine lines and wrinkled skin) and can even lead to skin cancer. Protecting your skin by applying sunblock (at least SPF 15) and wearing the appropriate clothes can prevent the damaging effect of the sun.
  4. Alcohol and Smoking
Studies show that people who smoke age faster than people who don’t. It could lead to different kinds of illness and can also cause your skin to age prematurely and have clogged pores.
Consuming small amounts of alcohol can be beneficial for your health. However, excessive consumption has negative effects on your skin and body. Excess alcohol can cause dryness of the skin and also skin inflammation.
  5. Skin Care Products
It’s very tempting to buy a trendy skin care product. The most common mistake people make is using a skin care product that is not made for their skin type. This can result to various skin problems like dryness, skin irritation as well as acne breakouts. Knowing your skin type is the first step of choosing the right skin care product for you. The second is having a skin care product that works for you. With the right skin care product and routine, the results will be a healthier looking skin.
  6. Stress
High level of stress can cause hormonal imbalance. This could trigger your sebaceous glands to produce more oil resulting to acne breakouts. Or it could also cause dryness of the skin which results to skin irritation. Knowing how to manage your stress and taking some time to relax can have a lot of benefits that includes a healthy skin.

AQI Sensitive Skin Essential Pack is a great addition to your skin care routine that helps keep your skin healthy and works for all skin types especially those who have sensitive skin.
