Natural Remedies

Ways to Treat Age Spots NaturallyBoost your antioxidant intake

Vitamins E, C and A are well known antioxidants that help our skin to fight off free radicals. These free radicals damage our skin resulting to wrinkles, blemishes, uneven skin tone and premature aging. Increasing your intake in fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants like berries, spinach and kale will not only help your immune system but will also help your skin look fresh and healthy.

Simple home remedies

There are everyday natural ingredients that are found in the comfort of your home and help lighten age spots:

  • Lemon juice – Lemons have citric acid which serves as a natural bleaching agent for the skin. Directly apply or dab fresh lemon juice on the age spot and wait for 30 minutes before rinsing. You can do this twice a day and see the results in a few months. If you have sensitive skin, you can dilute it with water in equal parts. Also, make sure to rinse the lemon juice off your skin before going out as lemon juice can double the sensitivity of your skin to sunlight.
  • Apple cider vinegar – Apple cider vinegar has high acid content thus making it a great skin exfoliant. Just like in lemon juice, you can dab it on the affected areas and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing.
  • Foods that have lactic acid – Yogurt and buttermilk are great examples of foods that have lactic acid. Lactic acid can help exfoliate and lighten the skin and even out your skin tone. Just apply a fine layer of yogurt or buttermilk on the age spots, wait for 15 to 30 minutes before rinsing.

Protect your skin from the sun

Protecting your skin from the sun is more of a prevention of developing age spots in the future. Age spots are skin pigmentation disorder that is caused by too much sun exposure. It’s a great practice to wear sunscreen especially if you are going out whether if it’s a hot day or not. This will not lighten the age spots but it will definitely prevent it from becoming darker.

Natural treatment can take some time to take effect. Usually it takes a few months to see the changes on your skin. But if you have sensitive skin, it’s still best to opt for the natural treatment.

There are all natural products that can help you moisturise as well as protect your skin from the damages caused by the sun. AQI Daily Facial Moisturiser with SPF is an oil free moisturiser that protects and hydrates your skin at the same time.
