Summer is here! The warm breeze and sunny days are fast approaching and this is a great time to relax and go to the beach. However during this time of the year a lot of skin problems occur to spoil your summer vacation.

Heat Rashes are small itchy bumps or pimple like rashes that usually appear on the area where the clothes regularly contact the skin. This rash is caused by too much heat and humidity where the sweat ducts are clogged and the perspiration gets trapped under the skin. Heat rashes oftentimes clear out in a few days. It is advisable to wear breathable fabrics and lightweight clothes to prevent this rash to occur. Stay away from applying heavy creams and ointments to prevent the blockage of the sweat ducts.

2. Insect Bites

Insect bites are very annoying. Since it’s natural for us to produce carbon dioxide we tend to attract these bugs. Insect bites can cause itching and swelling and can sometimes cause infection. Remember to apply insect repellant when you go outside. Also, use your screen doors and windows. Clean your surroundings and make sure that there is no standing water where mosquitoes can breed.

3. Sunburn

Sunburn is one of the most common skin problems during summer. Redness and pain usually accompany sunburn and too much sun exposure can really damage your skin. Regularly apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. To relieve sunburn, apply some cooling gel with aloe vera and make sure to hydrate. A cool bath can also help but be sure to use gentle cleansers to avoid skin irritation.

4. Dry Skin

It cannot be avoided to have dry skin during this time of year. Excessive heat and dehydration can cause your skin to dry. Always drink plenty of water and moisturise your skin regularly.
