What is Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin condition that indicates facial redness and sometimes with pimples or bumps.

It usually begins on the center of the face, across the cheeks, around the eyes and forehead. It can worsen overtime when left untreated.

The cause of Rosacea is still unknown and as of the moment there is no known cure.

What Is Rosacea?Signs and symptoms of Rosacea:

– Facial Redness – Persistent facial redness or flushing in the center of the face or a small portion of the face is the earliest sign of Rosacea.

– Bumps and Pimples – These bumps and pimples usually occur to a person with Rosacea. It is accompanied by stinging or burning sensation.

– Eye Irritation – The eyelids may be red and swollen. A person with Rosacea may experience eye dryness and in worst cases it can lead to vision loss or corneal damage.

– Skin Thickening – Skin thickening is another common symptom of Rosacea. It usually happens on the nose. This is known as Rhinophyma and is most common to men than women.

These are only some of the signs and symptoms of Rosacea. You can also have symptoms like, facial dryness, swelling, and plaques. Rosacea can also occur beyond the face like on the neck, chest, ears or scalp. Since it doesn’t have any known cure, once you experience skin irritation like persistent facial redness make sure to visit a skin specialist.
